At the Wrestle Kingdom 17 event on January 4, 2023, Sasha Banks made her first appearance in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) with her new wrestling name Mercedes Moné and confronted Kairi, the IWGP Champion after the latter’s victory over the aspiring Tam Nakano . She attacked Kairi and said she was now part of NJPW and her joint promotion the World Wonder Ring Stardom and would challenge Kairi for the championship in NJPW at Battle in the Valley on February 18. Just like her nickname “The Boss” in WWE, Moné is now being dubbed “The CEO”.
