All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has chosen to terminate the wrestler and employment contracts of Phillip Brooks (CM Punk) with immediate effect, citing valid reasons. Tony Khan, who serves as AEW’s CEO, General Manager, and Head of Creative, confirmed this decision today.
This termination follows a thorough internal investigation conducted over the past week concerning an incident that occurred backstage at AEW – All In London on Sunday, August 27. After the investigation concluded, the AEW Discipline Committee met and consulted with external legal advisors before unanimously recommending to Khan that CM Punk should be terminated with cause.
Khan expressed the following statement:
“Phil made significant contributions to AEW, and I appreciate his efforts. The decision to terminate his AEW contracts with valid reasons ultimately rests with me. I understand that this news may disappoint many of our fans, and I genuinely wish it didn’t have to be shared. Nonetheless, I am making this decision in the best interests of the numerous incredible individuals who contribute to AEW’s success every week, including our talent, staff, venue operators, and countless others whose crucial efforts often go unrecognized but are instrumental in delivering outstanding shows to our fans worldwide.”
