WrestleRock Podcast is thinking today of Freddie Mercury, the British singer, songwriter and record producer with Queen. This multi-talented artist would have celebrated his 77th birthday. Considered one of the greatest singers in rock history, he was known for his charisma and four-octave vocal range. Queen released the UK #1 single « Bohemian Rhapsody » in 1975, as well as over 40 other Top 40 singles. Also, the 1980 US #1 single « Crazy Little Thing Called Love ».
When he went solo, he composed the 1987 UK #4 single « The Great Pretender ». Sadly, Mercury died of bronchiopneumonia, an HIV-related complication, on November 24, 1991 at the age of 45, just one day after publicly announcing that he was HIV-positive.
