Adnan Al-Kaissey de son vrai nom est né à Bagdad, en Irak le 1er mars 1939, mais a déménagé aux États-Unis pour jouer au football à l’Université de Houston dans la décennie 50. Il a ensuite été transféré dans l’État de l’Oklahoma pour s’entraîner à la lutte professionnelle.
Il a débuté sa carrière de lutteur dans la région à la fin des années 1950, en luttant sous un gimmick amérindien nommé Billy White Wolf. Il a passé les années 1960 et la première moitié des années 70 a travailler dans des territoires comme Hawaï, le nord-ouest du Pacifique, le Texas et même en Australie avant de faire le saut avec la WWWF en 1976.
Il a remporté les championnats par équipe de la WWWF avec le chief Jay Strongbow en décembre 1976. Cependant, ils furent dans l’obligation d’abandonner les titres au mois de mai lorsqu’Al-Kaissie a eu une opération au cou.
Al-Kaissie a rejoint l’AWA en 1981 où il lutte sous un gimmick anti-américain Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie. Au cours des huit années qu’il a passées dans la promotion, il a été impliqué dans des feuds mémorables avec Nick Bockwinkel et le Sgt. Slaughter.
En 1990, Al-Kaissie est revenu à la WWE sous le nom de Général Adnan et s’est aligné avec le Sgt Slaughter et le Colonel Mustafa (The Iron Sheik), sous le nom de Triangle of Terror. Le trio a affronté l’équipe de Hulk Hogan et The Ultimate Warrior lors de l’événement principal de SummerSlam 1991 avec une victoire des faces.
Il est décédé le 6 septembre 2023 à l’âge de 84 ans.
Adnan Al-Kaissey, real name, was born in Baghdad, Iraq on March 1, 1939, but moved to the U.S. to play football at the University of Houston in the 1950s, before transferring to Oklahoma State to train as a professional wrestler.
He began his wrestling career there in the late 1950s, wrestling under a Native American gimmick named Billy White Wolf. He spent the 1960s and first half of the ’70s working in territories such as Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest, Texas and even Australia before making the leap to the WWWF in 1976.
He won the WWWF team championships with Chief Jay Strongbow in December 1976. However, they were forced to relinquish the titles in May when Al-Kaissie underwent neck surgery.
Al-Kaissie joined the AWA in 1981, where he wrestled under an anti-American gimmick Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie. In his eight years with the promotion, he was involved in memorable feuds with Nick Bockwinkel and Sgt. Slaughter.
In 1990, Al-Kaissie returned to WWE as General Adnan and aligned himself with Sgt. Slaughter and Colonel Mustafa (The Iron Sheik), under the name Triangle of Terror. The trio faced the team of Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior in the main event of SummerSlam 1991 with a victory for the faces.
He died on September 6, 2023 at the age of 84.
