Le 12 septembre 2003, l’auteur-compositeur-interprète américain Johnny Cash meurt d’une insuffisance respiratoire il était âgé de 71 ans. L’un des plus grands du country américain du XXe siècle, connu sous le nom de « L’Homme en noir ». Il commençait toujours ses spectacles en disant aux gens : “Bonjour, je m’appelle Johnny Cash “. A eu le single « A Boy Named Sue » n°2 aux États-Unis et n°4 au Royaume-Uni en 1969, ainsi que 11 autres singles du Top 40 américain.
Au cinéma, dans le film “Walk the Line”, il fut interprété par l’acteur américain Joaquin Phoenix.
