On May 15, 2003, country singer June Carter Cash, who was Johnny Cash’s second wife, died in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 73, following complications from heart surgery. She enjoyed great success with her husband Johnny Cash, including the following hit songs “Jackson”, “Ring Of Fire” (which she co-wrote about their love affair) and “If I Were A Carpenter”, each of which won a Grammy Award.
The film Walk the Line stars Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter. The film was released in 2005.
